The Gold Medal cog is a highly refined version of the EAI Superstar cog with titanium nitride coating. This special coating reduces the friction coefficient by 100% and increases the durability coefficient by 100%. More thought, R&D, and hand work has gone into one of these cogs than most of the other parts on your bike. The track passionate folks at Euro Asia Imports had a goal of producing the smoothest, flattest and quietest track cog for world class, professional track racers, and that's exactly what they accomplished with the "Superstar", but they did not stop there.  They made it even better. They took the time to go directly to the world class track racers at the ADT Velodrome in L.A. and asked them what they wanted in a track cog for use in world class events. The result is a cog that all others will be measured by from here on out. 

 

Each cog is made in the U.S. of A to ISO specs of ½” by 1/8”, of high grade stainless steel. The teeth on the cog have been machined without a transition from the mid to top section of the teeth and come to a fine, smooth, thin point compared with the standard Euro-Asia cog. Each cog comes in a cool, black wallet with magnetic clasp that sports the famous “EAI” logo.

 

EAI recommends using this cog with higher end chainrings (Sugino Gigas) and chains (IZUMI V) to feel it's true quality.
