The Arkel GT18 is the flagship front pannier of the Arkel pannier line. It is designed as a companion to their GT-54 rear bags.
The GT-18s are available with or with out a back pack option. The back pack option turns your pannier in to a great day pack for when you are taking a hike off the bike. The backpack straps stow away quickly and easily. The cam lock attachment system is completely out of the way and won't touch your back when in back pack mode.
Within the pannier is a bright yellow waterproof liner. Bright yellow to more easily identify your items in the dark; waterpoof to keep your items dry or separate the dirty from the clean; or if you're not in wet or dirty conditions roll the liner up and out of your way.
Pockets are everywhere and if Velcro isn't holding it in place, then you're opening and closing with a buttery smooth zippers. In fact, you probably won't believe it's not butter. The top Pocket has a "smiley zipper" opening. It opens diagonally to give super wide access, a convenient feature that allows you to get common tools or other essentials with out having to dig.
There are also built in safety features such as reflective ribbons, tangle-free straps, and sturdy aluminum internal frame. The reflective ribbons surround the bag and are visible to traffic whether you are hithering or thithering. The straps that bind are situated such that they will not tangle and bind into your wheels. And the aluminum internal frame is sturdy and supportive of both the back and the bottom. Sold as a unit not pair so that you can choose two standard panniers or one pannier and one backpack.
